Mrs. Emogene Jackson, 89, died Thursday night at 6:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Luther Dooley, in Wingate. She had been ill three weeks and death was attributed to a heart ailment. Born April 16, 1861, at Deerfield, in Randolph County, she was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Fulwider Bannon. She was first married in 1880 (11/5/1879 is the marriage date on file at the Montgomery County courthouse) to George Abbott, who died 10 years later. She was married a second time to Hugh Jackson in Crawfordsville on Jan. 4, 1897. Mr. Jackson also preceded her in death. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Center Christian Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Luther Dooley, at whose home she died; a sister, Mrs. Lenna Holle, of New Jersey; a brother, L. W. Bannon, of Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by two children by the first marriage. They were James Abbott, whose death occurred in 1913, and Mrs. Daisy Thompson, who died in 1946. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Center Christian Church. Rev. Homer Hunsinger will be in charge and burial will be in Liberty Chapel Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before the services. Friends may call at the Dooley residence in Wingate after one o'clock Saturday afternoon. - transcribed by kbz
