Sheriff Frank Wren has spent the day in an effort to trace down the identity of a supposed former resident of this city or county who was shot and killed while trying to burglarize a house in Indianapolis a month ago and whose body is being held in Indianapolis pending the coroner's investigation. The sheriff found a few clues that have led him to believe the man was a former resident of this county. A message to the sheriff indicated that a brick yard employee such as the man described in the communication from Coroner Durham Tuesday had formerly lived in Ripley Twp between Yountsville and Alamo. Sheriff Wren communicated with Trustee Hopping of Ripley today but could learn nothing of the man. The fellow who is said to have lived in the county is said to have been named Claud Jackson. Jackson was the name given the sheriff in the communication from Coroner Durham Tuesday. The sheriff believes the dead burglar formerly worked for a few days at the Crawfordsville Shale Brick Company's plant here. The foreman of the plant stated today that he had had a workman by the name of Jackson who answered the description given by Coroner Durham. The man worked at the plant only a few days, the foreman said. This afternoon Sheriff Wren received a tip that the dead man may have been a former resident of Coal Creek Twp and at 3:30 he was investigating this report. - kbz
