Ladoga – Vilas B. Jacks, 82, who for several years served on the board of Jasper and Montgomery Counties Farm Bureau Coop, died Friday afternoon in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He was born in Jasper County and lived most of his life here and in Crawfordsville. Mr. Jacks farmed in this area until retiring and resided at Rt 1, Ladoga. In 1965 he married Margurite “Kay” Oliver who survives. Mr. Jacks also served several years on the board of directors for the American Red Cross and Council on Aging. He was a member of the Christian Church and in 1938 was named Indiana State Born Husking Champ. Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Vivian McClellan of Ladoga and Mrs. Katherine Young of Lafayette; one son, Donald Jacks of Fort Wayne and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Crowder of Indianapolis and Mrs. Florence Hopkins of Renssalaer.
