Darlington – James Eugene “Gene” Jackman, 70 of Darlington died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday in his home after a lingering illness. Mr. Jackman was born July 2, 1919 in Darlington. He was a lifelong resident. His first marriage was to Leonard Shanking in 1939 and she died in 1963. In 1964 he married Jeannine Kesley and she survives. Mr. Jackman was a self-employed heating and air-conditioning contractor in Darlington. He attended Darlington school and was a member of the Darlington Congregational Christian Church, the Linden Masonic Lodge and the Darlington American Legion. Mr. Jackman was a WWII Army veterans. Also surviving are a son, Jim Jackman of Darlington; a daughter, Traci Hill of Waveland; a stepson, Trent Farley of Crawfordsville; two stepdaughters, Twila Farley and Terri Sparrow both of Darlington; two sisters, Helen Percifield of Lafayette and Lennie Hiatt of Las Vegan, Nev and a brother, John Johnson of Claremont, Calif. The service will be Wednesday in Darlington. – kbz
