Died - of consumption on the night of the 21st of April 1883 at her father's residence west of Darlington, Nancy, widow of Samuel Irwin and daughter of Isaac and Permelia Rich in the 41st year of her age. Her funeral was attended by a large number of mourning friends and relatives. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Stafford after which she was interred in the Tapp Cemetery. The deceased united with the Methodist Church very young and remained a member of that body until death. She was married to Samuel irwin oct 10, 1862. Her husband died 10 years ago leaving four small children for her to raise alone, yet she fought the battle bravely, hard and lonely as it were and just as these little buds are blooming into man and womanhood, she too is summoned by the master and must obey. Besides two sons and two daughters, she leaves an aged father, one brother and a large circle of friends to mourn her loss but with full assurance that she has entered into eternal rest.
