Robert D. Irvin, 29, of Churubusco, formerly of New Richmond, was killed early this morning in a single-car auto accident near Van Wert, Ohio. He was a member of the Elmdale Community Church, the Churubusco Fire Department and coached Little League Baseball. Born March 5, 1950, in Montgomery County, he was a son of Carroll and Fern Bunnell Irvin of New Richmond. He was graduated from Coal Creek High School in 1968 and from Purdue University in 1972. He was married May 19, 1973, to Mary Cord, who survives. He was a territorial manager for the John Deere Implement Co. He is survived by his wife; a son, Brian, 2; a daughter, Michelle, one week; his parents; one brother, John Irvin of Crawfordsville; one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth Ann) Newnum of Crawfordsville; and grandfather, Don Irvin of Wingate. Services are at 2 p.m. Monday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Jack Swank officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Crawfordsville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday. Memorial services will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Sheets Funeral Home at Churubusco. – jlr
