Linden - John Homer Irons, 68, who lived on Crawfordsville Rt 5, died unexpectedly at 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Home Hospital, Lafayette following an illness of two years. Born in Montgomery County, he had lived all his life in the Darlington and Linden communities and was a prominent farmer. He was married in 1918 to Bertha Johnson and attended Potato Creek Methodist Church. Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Eileen Lumm of LaGrange and Miss Jean Irons of Los angeles, Calif; two sons, Charles K of Crawfordsville Rt 5 and John R. of Los Angeles, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Glee Enoch of Crawfordsville and two brothers, James H of Linden and Charles E of Crawfordsville Rt 5. – kbz

James H. Irons, 68, prominent Montgomery County farmer, died at 2:35 p.m. Monday at the Linden nursing home after an illness of two months. A lifelong resident of the Potato Creek community near Darlington he married Josephine McBee in 1915. They moved to Linden 8 years ago. Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Lois Spitznagel of Linden and Miss Harriet Irons of Ft. Wayne; a brother, Charles E. Irons of near Darlington; and a sister Mrs. Glee Enoch of Crawfordsville. Friends may call at Russell E. Brown Funeral Home, Linden after Tuesday noon. Services there 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Dennis Murphy officiating; burial in Linden cemetery. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Sharon and Denny Spitznagel of Linden.
