John E Ingersoll, 56, of 2822 Greenbush St, Lafayette, brother of Les Ingersoll of Crawfordsville, died Tuesday at Home Hospital at Lafayette. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Masonic Lodge, Murat Shrine Temple, Fraternal Order of Police, Eagles Lodge, Indiana National Guard Reserve and had retired from the U S Army after 29 years of service. He was born May 21, 1920, at Crawfordsville, a son of Hugo and Edna Ingersoll. Surviving besides his brother are his wife, Hildegard: a son Harold K "Butch" Ingersoll, serving with the Army in Taiwan; daughter Diana L DePriest of Ft. Riley, Kan; his mother Mrs Edna Lockhart of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs Jean Moore of Crawfordsville; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Waynetown Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Fund.

John E. Ingersoll, 56, an employee of Roberts Security Co died at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday in Home Hospital shortly after being admitted. Mr. Ingersoll, of 2822 Greenbush St moved here five years ago. He had served 29 years with the Army.
He was a member of the Indiana National Guard Reserve, the Masonic Lodge of Ovid, NY; American Legion Post 492 VFW 529, Shrine Club of Frankfurt, Germany, Murat Temple of Indianapolis, the Fraternal Order of Police and Eagles Lodge. Surviving are the widow, Hildegard; one son, Harold Ingersoll of Taiwan; a daughter, Mrs. Diana L. DePriest of Ft. Riley, Kan; a brother, Les Ingersoll and one sister, Mrs. Jean Moore both of Crawfordsville.
