Mr. Chester “Chet” Ingersoll, age 96 of Waynetown passed away at 2:40 a.m. Friday Nov 30, 2012 at the Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital in Crawfordsville. He was born on Feb 5, 1916, in Montgomery County, the son of Edwin E. and Nora Mae Herron Ingersoll. A graduate of Alamo High School, he would tell the story that he rode in on horseback to school the first year. He first married Dorothy Utterback in 1938 and they later divorced. He then married Alice May Myers Hallett in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1996. Chet farmed and raised dairy cattle. He later worked at RR Donnelly and Sons, was a deliveryman for Cleveland Bread company and retired from Raybestos after 24 years as a first class tool and die maker. His memberships include 50 years with Alamo Masonic Lodge #144, the Wabash Club, the Appaloosa Association and the Waynetown Christian Church. He and Alice May wintered in Punta Gorda Fla for 15 years where he enjoyed shuffle boarding and having family and friends visit. His greatest pleasure was breading and showing Appaloosa horses. He is survived by two sons: Larry D (Wife, Kan) Ingersoll of Tampa, Fla; Ed (wife Sharon) Ingersoll of Lafayette; two stepsons, William (wife Kay) Hallett and Jerry (fiancé Diane Yount) both of Crawfordsville. Son-in-law, James Pritchett of Dale Hollow, Ky; 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; daughter, Karen Pritchett; 2 brothers and 7 sisters. Funeral services for Chet will be held at 2 p.m. Monday Dec 3, 2012 at Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday.
