James Franklin Hurt, son of Absalom Hurt, and brother of Dr. Hurt of this place, died of typhoid fever at his residence, three and a half miles north of town on the night of the 6th inst.

Mr. Hurt was born near Jamestown, Boone County, Ind., September 4, 1845; removed with his parents to this county in 1856 and has been living on the farm upon which he died ever since. He was an acceptable member of the M. E. Church for 12 years, during which time his exemplification of a devout, consistent Christian was admired by all who knew him. His illness lasted about five weeks, the latter part of which time was accompanied with sufferings most painful and excruciating; but fully realizing his preparation for death, he bore them with patience and hailed his dying moment with delight, feeling that “all was well.”

By request his funeral was preached at the M. E. Church at this place by Rev. J. H. Claypool on Tuesday last. He leaves a wife and little daughter with numerous relatives and friends to mourn his loss. -s
