Earl Hurt, 69, New Richmond, died Monday evening in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been ill since May. He lived in the New Richmond area most of his life and worked for 11 years as a butcher in the New Richmond area. Following that he worked for 22 years at Alcoa. He retired in 1974. He was a member of Waynetown Baptist Church. Born June 21, 1909, at Willow Shade, Ky., he was a son of Issac and Lena Page Hurt. He married Roxie Brooks at Crawfordsville in 1940. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Robert of Crawfordsville, Richard of New Richmond and Roger of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Bailey of New Richmond; a brother, Clyde Hurt of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Helms & Hahn Funeral Home, Linden. The Rev. Tom Cash will officiate. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
