In Memoriam

William B. Hunt was born in Warren County, Ohio March 31, 1821. He was the second child of a family of 10 children, 3 sons 7 daughters. Two sister preceded him to the Harbor of Rest.

Five sisters and two brothers survive him, one brother in Dakota, one sister in Illinois and the others in Indiana. Mr. Hunt moved from Warren County, Ohio to Union County Indiana in 1840 and was married to Mary J. Rose Sept 13, 1846. In 1856 he came from Union County to Montgomery County three miles north west of Crawfordsville where he lived continuously until his death, which occurred Wednesday evening Nov 10, 1886, aged 65 years 6 months 9 days. Rev, Guthrie of Muncie, Ind conducted the funeral services at the home, Saturday Nov. 13, 1886 at 10 a.m. and the remains were interred in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Hunt was a member of no church, but implicity believed in the right, in living a true life and honest life. "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," was his motto. He believed more in practice than in profession. He was kind to his neighbors, helpful to the needy and a kind and loving husband and father. When he came to the river where the too (sic) worlds meet, he expressed himself as being ready and willing to pass over. And for this may we have a joy, peace and hope, "for we know, that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." - kbz
