Charles M. Hunt, age 55, a life long resident of this vicinity, died from the effects of a fall from a tree Wednesday. Thea ccident happened at his home on the Clark Tribbett farm, a mile SE of town, about 10:30 in the morning. Mr. Hunt had climbed into the tree and was picking pears, when a limb broke causing him to fall to the ground, a distance of some 30'. He fell is such a way as to strike his head and shoulder, breaking a collar bone two fingers on the left hand a causing a bad dent in his skull. His wife who was nearby, hastened to him and Dr. Peacock was called. Everything possible was done to revive him but he never regined consciousness. He died shortly after one o'clock. Mr. Hunt was a highly respected citizen of this community. Some 35 years ago he was married to Miss Nora Jackson who survives him. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary E. Hunt of Darlington and two brothers, J.C. Hunt of Lafayette and William Hunt of Monon, Ind. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church this afternoon at 2:30 and will be in charge of Rev. Stanforth. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow cemetery. -- kbz
