Harold Glen Hungate, 52-year-old former Crawfordsville businessman died Saturday afternoon (Oct 13) in Brown Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He had been in failing health several years and seriously ill in recent weeks. Mr. Hungate owned and operated a men's clothing store here before moving to Columbus, Ohio where he had been in the insurance business the past 24 years. He was born March 12, 1909 at Sandborn, a son of Grover and Myrtle Hungate. He was married July 2, 1902 to Hazel Taylor. Mr. Hungate was a graduate of Crawfordsville HS and attended William Jewell College. He was a member of Ben Hur Life Association, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, King Avenue Methodist Church in Columbus. He was a WWII veteran. Survivors include his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Hungate of Crawfordsville; a son, William T. Hungate of Columbus; a daughter, Carol Glyn of Columbus; a brother, Robert R. Hungate of Crawfordsville who is president of the Ben Hur Life Association, two sisters, Mrs. Robert B. Harding of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Thomas Mastin of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. The body was brought to the Hunt & Son Funeral Home here where friends may pay their respects after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Dr. John G. De Kruyter will officiate. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery here.
