Wilbur Humphreys, 91, a former resident of the Mt. Zion area, died this morning in Carmen Nursing home here. He was a farmer in the area for more than 40 years and had been a livestock buyer and hauler for several years. Mr. Humphreys was born in Vermillion County, Ill., on Aug. 22, 1885, a son of Samuel and Sarah Jane Griffin Humphreys. He was married to Lucy Swank on Jan. 26, 1913. Surviving are a brother, Carl of Waveland, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, 10 brothers and a sister. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Jack Swank officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery near Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
