Waynetown -- Ross Humphreys, 80, died at 9:55 p.m. Monday at his farm home two miles northeast of here. He had been in failing health four years and seriously ill four weeks. Born Nov. 17, 1880, in Vermillion County, Ill., he was a son of Samuel and Sarah Griffin Humphreys. He was married Aug. 17, 1902, near Waynetown, to Evie Higbee. He moved to Indiana at the age of 10 and attended school in Coal Creek Township. Mr. Humphreys farmed his entire life and was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Harold of Rt. 2, Waynetown; a daughter, Mrs. Loral Endicott of Rt. 1, Jamestown; nine brothers, John, Fred, and Wilbur of Crawfordsville, Carl of Waveland, Asa and Charley of Hillsboro, Lee of Wingate, Grover of Danville, Ill., and Frank of Hollywood, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Bud Potter of Rossville, Ill. and Mrs. Harry Fruits of Crawfordsville; a grandson, Charles Humphreys of Waynetown; a step-granddaughter, Mrs. Carl Morris of Decatur, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. Lewis Poore, pastor of the Waynetown Baptist Church, in charge. Interment will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
