Mrs. Lucy Humphreys, 82, of Mt. Zion Road, died early Wednesday morning in Culver Hospital where she had been a patient for four weeks. She had been in failing health for sevearl months. Mrs. Humphreys was born Sept 27, 1887 in the Elmdale community to Daniel and Mary Harmon Swank. She married Wilbur Humphreys on Jan 26, 1913 in her home. she and her husband lived at Rt 8 address farming the property for the past 35 years. she was a member of Elmdale United Methodist Church. She was educated in Oakland School north of Elmdale. Surviving are her husband; a niece, Mrs. Roy Meharry of Rt. 1, New Richmond; four nephews, Clifford Swank of Waynetown; Donald, Paul & Harold Harshbarger all of Hillsboro. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Servies Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown by Rev. John R. Servies, assisted by Rev. Jean McCan. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery north of Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday. -- kbz

Mrs. Lucy Humphreys, 82, who resided near Crawfordsville died Wednesday (July 1, 1970) at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. She had been a patient there for four weeks. Born Sept. 27, 1887, near Elmdale, she was the daughter of Daniel and Mary Harmon Swanks. She was married to Wilbur Humphreys Jan. 26, 1913. He survives. Mrs. Humphreys was a member of the Elmdale United Methodist Church. She had resided with her husband on their farm 35 years. She received her education at the Oakland Schools north of Elmdale. Survivors also include a niece, Mrs. Roy Meharry of New Richmond. Route 1; four nephews, Clifford Swank of Waynetown, Donald, Paul and Harold Harshbarger, all of Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services will be at 3 p.m. EDT Friday at the Servies-Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, the Rev. John R. Servies and the Rev. Jean McCan officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday at the funeral home. – jlr
