Waynetown, Feb. 18 - James Humphreys, 67, farmer, died at 6:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the Small nursing home in Waynetown. He had been seriously ill since suffering a stroke four weeks ago. Born Aug. 17, 1882, at Danville, Ill. Mr. Humphreys was the son of Samuel and Sarah Griffin Humphreys. He married Hattie O. Swank, of Crawfordsville, Jan. 27, 1900. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Dallas Switzer, of Lafayette, Mrs. Carl Mahorney, of Cincinatti, O., Mrs. Fred Wyant, of Thorntown, and Mrs. Charles Rance, of Indianapolis; a son, V. R. Humphreys, in service with the Navy at Long Beach, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 10 brothers, John, Fred, and Wilbur Humphreys, all of Crawfordsville; Ross Humphreys, of Waynetown; Lee Humphreys of Wingate; Asa and Charles Humphreys, of Hillsboro; Frank Humphreys, of California; Carl Humphreys, of Waveland, and Grover Humphreys, of Rossville, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Fruits, of Waynetown, and Mrs. Zella Potter, of Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning at the Waynetown Baptist Church, with burial at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev. Cornelius Airhart will be the officiating minister. Friends may pay their respects at the Grenard and Servies Funeral Home.
