WAYNETOWN - Evie Humphreys, 91, of Rt. 1, Waynetown, died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since noon Saturday. She had been a resident of the Ben Hur Home since July 1970. Prior to that she and her husband had operated a farm north of Waynetown since 1916. Mrs. Humphreys was a member of Waynetown Baptist Church and its Delta Alpha Sunday School class. She was born near here Aug. 7, 1883, a daughter of Charles A. and Joanna Phillips Higbee. She married Ross Humphreys of Elmdale on Aug. 17, 1902. He died May 1, 1961. Surviving are a son, Harold of Rt. 1, Waynetown; a daughter, Mrs. Opal Endicott of Rt. 1, Jamestown; a brother, Clifford Higbee of Rt. 1, Wingate; a grandson, Charles Humphreys of Warner Robbins, Ga.; a step-granddaughter, Mrs. Janet Morris of Decatur, Ill.; three great- grandchildren and two nieces. Two brothers, Fred and John, and an infant sister are deceased. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Stephen Malone officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. - kbz

Mrs. Evie Humphrey, 91, of Waynetown Route 1, died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday (April 10, 1975) at the Culver Hospital Crawfordsville. Death was due to a stroke. Born Aug. 7, 1893, in Waynetown, she was the daughter of Charles A and Hoanna Phillips Higbee. She married Ross Humphrey Aug. 17, 1902, who died May 1, 1961. Survivors include a son, Harold Humphrey of Waynetown; a daughter, Mrs. Opel Endicott of Jamestown Route 1; a brother, Clifford Higbee of Wingate Route 1; a grandson, Charles Humphrey of Warner Robbins, GA; a step-granddaughter, Janice Morris of Decatur, IL; three great-grandchildren and two nieces. Mrs. Humphrey and her husband had ran a farm north of Waynetown since 1916. She had resided in Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville since 1970. She was a member of the Waynetown Baptist Church and also the Delta Alpha Sunday School Class. She had attended the Waynetown schools. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Malone officiating. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
