Wingate - Claude Humphreys, 69, a resident of Ridgecrest, Calif., and formerly of Wingate, died in Ridgecrest Community Hospital at 11:45 a.m. Monday. Mr. Humphreys was a retired salesman for Swift and Co. He had lived in California since 1942. Born June 9, 1907, at Wingate, he was a son of Lee and Leota Harper Humphreys. He graduated from Wingate High School in 1926. He was married to Theta Roberson of Wingate on Jan. 28, 1929. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Charles of Ridgecrest; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald Williams of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Helen Doan Fruits of Rt. 4 Crawfordsville; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. The body will be cremated in California.
