Waveland - Carl Humphreys, 77, of Rt. 1, Waveland, died Monday night in Indiana University Hospital at Indianapolis. He had been in failing health since June. He was a member of Waveland Covenant United Methodist Church and the Parke County Farm Bureau. He farmed in Parke County most of his life and drove a school bus 15 years for Greene Township School. Mr. Humphreys was past president of the Parke County Fair Board. Born June 6, 1902, in Montgomery County, he was a son of Samuel and Sara Griffin Humphreys. He attended Elmdale School and was married to Farris Hesler Sept. 1, 1928, at Danville, Ill. She survives. Other survivors are three sons, Jerry of Rt. 2, Rockville, Phillip of Greencastle and Fred of Rt. 7, Crawfordsville; five grandchildren; and a great grandson. Eleven brothers and four sisters preceded him in death. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. in Machledt & Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Niles and Rev. William Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery at Marshall. Friends may call in the funeral home 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
