STOCKWELL — Alpheus R. Hullinger, 83, of Rt. 13 Lafayette, who formerly farmed in the Hillsboro and Newtown communities, took his own life by strangulation Wednesday afternoon. He had been in ill health for some time and was bedfast. His body was found by a grandson, Richard Shirley, with whom he had lived the past year in the Poland Hill neighborhood. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hullinger. He was married to Zella Ruckle, who died in 1917. Survivors include two sons, Lawrence of Orlando, Fla., and Floyd of Decatur, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Young of Decatur; a sister, Mrs. Louise Franklin of Newtown, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Hullinger in addition to farming had been employed at the Leaman Welding Co. in Lafayette. Funeral rites are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Stockwell where friends may call. Rev. Clyde Wake will be the minister and burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery.  --typed by Walt W
