Uncle John HULET though sightless and nearing the century mark makes regular trips each day from his house to Main Street where he calls on his friends at their places of business. Saturday morning he made his regular trip and found the sidewalks drifted full of snow and the wind blowing a gale. The down trip was successful but in returning he lost his bearings and was soon floundering in the snow he knew not where. Kind friends were watching him and by their assistance he was soon homeward bound, reaching there in safety. Mr. Hulet’s life has been a busy one and now old and helpless as he is, that indomitable will of his will not stay dormant. Scarcely a day passes without seeing Uncle John feeling his way with his two canes from place to place talking and joking with his friends as they accost him, recognizing each by his voice – Darlington News.
