Mrs. Oley Hughes, 82, Rt. 6, died Friday morning in Culver Hospital where she had been a patient one week. Born Nov. 2, 1886, in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of Joseph W. and Florence Clough Haines. She married Merle A. Hughes Dec. 11, 1911. They were married in Crawfordsville. Mr. Hughes died in 1941. Mrs. Hughes attended Breaks School and for many years was employed in the drapery department at Hall's Emporium. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been a member of the Wesleyan Guild of the church. Surviving are a son, Harold J. of Rt. 6; a daughter, Mrs. Clinton Fulford of Rt. 8; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bright Funeral Home with Rev. Guy E. Tremaine officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after noon Sunday.
