Hillsboro-- Mrs. Nancy Jane Hughes, 82, resident of this community for many years, died at the home of her son, George Wilbur Hughes, northeast of here Wednesday night at 9 o'clock. Death was due to a stroke of pralysis suffered a month ago. Mrs. Hughes was born Oct 29, 1853 on a farm southeast of HIllsboro, the daughter of George W. and Martha Purnell Ellis. Her marriage to James Elbert Hughes took place March 7, 1877. The couple started housekeeping on a fearn near here and spent the remainder of their lives in Warren and Fountain County. Mr. Hughes died about 16 years ago (sic - 6 Nov 1919). The deceased joined the Ingersoll church when a young woman and later transferred her membership to the Waynetown Christian Church. The survivors include two sons, George WIlbur Hughes at whose home she died and Charles Ross Hughes of Crawfordsville; a grandson, Harry Hughes, two granddaughters, Mary Jane and Geraldine Hughes of Waynetown. Another child preceded her in death. Mrs. Hughes was the last of a family of 7 children. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Waynetown Christian Church, Rev. Wm. Newlin of Crawfordsville will be in charge. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. - kbz
