Waynetown - Elbert Hughes, a farmer who has resided in this section of the county all of his life, died yesterday afternoon in the Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville following an illness caused by peritonitis which set in last Tuesday. The deceased was born in this county Sept 8, 1863 the son of Ogden and Poly Hughes. Thirty-three years ago he was married to Miss Marcy (sic - Nancy?) Ellis. Mr. Hughes was devoted to the Christian Church creeds and was an Odd Fellow & Red Man. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Charles and William and a brother, Henry Hughes who lives on W. Main Street, in Crawfordsville. The funeral will be held Sunday under the charge of the Rev. Dunkin of Waynetown. The burial will be made in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. - kbz
