Mrs. Harriet Dora Hughes, 77, died at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. C. L. Kingry, 1006 E. Market St., where she had lived since 1945. A native of Darlington, she was born Amy 30, 1885 to Albert K. and Maude Martin Peterson. She married Albert D. Hughes Nov. 24, 1910 in Gessie, Ind. He died Sept. 23, 1947. They lived for a time in Vermillion County before moving to the Darlington community, where Mr. Hughes was engaged in the poultry business. Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Darlington Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, Donald A. of Arcadia and Ralph M. of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Glenn Lawler of New Market and Mrs. Kingry; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Hayes of Indianapolis, Mrs. O. M. Booher of Kokomo and Mrs. O. L. Simpson of Lapaz, and 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceding Mrs. Hughes in death was a son, Dwight, who died as a prisoner of war in World War II in 1945. Services are announced for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bright Funeral Home here, Rev. Bennett Fulp officiating, with interment in the Darlington IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
