Abraham Huff, an old and respected citizen of this city, died at his home on Franklin street Wednesday night at 11:30, after a ten weeks illness, which began with sciatic rheumatism and resulted in various complications. He was the son of Peter B. and Jerusha Hurr and was born near Harrodsburg, Ky., Mar. 7, 1821, where he grew to manhood. He married Julia A. Brassfield near Shelbyville, Ky., Nov. 28, 1840, and to them were born three children, George A., of Chicago: Levanda J., now Mrs. Jasper N. Davidson, of Whitesville, and Thomas, who died in infancy. In 1849, he moved his little family to this county, where he has since resided excepting a few years spent at Champaign Ill. His wife died August 31, 1892, and his home has since been kept by a sister-in-law and niece. In 1890, they celebrated their golden wedding in a quiet way with their near relatives, children and grandchildren, of which there are three living, George Huff Jr., of University of Illinois Will A. Davidson, of Whitesville, and Mrs. J. M. Waugh, of this city. Mrs, Philbrick preceded her grandfather three years. There are five great-grandchildren. Familiarly known as "Uncle Abe" and Honest Abe," there are many who will mourn his cheerful face and pleasant words. He was a life long Democrat, the soul of honor and integrity, and it well may be said of him "Well done, thou good and faithful." The funeral service will be conducted by Father Stafford from the family residence, today at 2 p. m. Interment at Oak Hill. - thanks to Kim H for this much better one than I had :)
