Again God in his infinite mercy has come and plucked one of our little buds too sweet to be left on earth, and taken it to bloom in heaven.
Eva Catherine Hubbard was born Jan. 21, 1892, and departed this life in Yountsville, Oct. 31, 1899, aged 7 years, 9 months and 10 days. She leaves a father, mother, brother, and a dear grandpa and grandma with a host of friends to mourn her loss.
As she lay in her little casket, dressed in her angel robe, a glance would tell you she was now in Paradise. She has passed through this world of sin and pain, and a pure, undefiled little soul will wait for us on the other shore. Hear Jesus say, “Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” In the dear Savior’s arms she is now resting. Sorrow, sin and pain are gone, and love, joy and peace instead. She was loved by her teachers and her classmates as she always had a loving smile and a kind word for all. She had often expressed a wish that she knew more about Jesus. Just as the sun went down in the west, did she bid her hopes to rest. Her sickness was brief, and in the last moments, when but a step of life’s short journey remained, she called for her mother, and in that tranquil hour she murmured, “Mamma take me home,” and fell asleep in Jesus.
Rev. Daugherty conducted the funeral services Thursday morning at 10 o’clock. The pall bearers were Misses Mary Gilkey, Grace Sweeney, Mary Hardee, and Dora Switzer. Interment was at the Weir Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the friends and neighbors who so kindly helped them through the illness and death of little Katie.
