Huxhold - Charles Nelson
Source: Waveland Independent newspaper, Waveland, Montgomery County, Indiana, Aug 6, 1942
Charles Nelson HUXHOLD was born March 15, 1888 and departed this life Aug 3, 1942 of a heart ailment.
He was married Jan 17, 1912 to Mable Motherhead and to this union were born 6 children: Elmer, Olive, Va, Maxine, Nelson and Manuel.
There is also another daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Warner Settle, of Louisville, Ky.
Two brothers, Albert and Carl, a sister, Mrs. Mary Alward, two grandchildren, one great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews and friends survive.
Although Huxhold had not been well for a number of years yet his passing was very sudden, and quite a shock to his family and friends.
On Monday, the day of his death, he had made a business trip to Browns Valley, driving his car and arriving home a few hours before he was stricken.
He will be missed by his family and neighbors.
This unexpected summons into the Great beyond of husband, father, friend and neighbor serves as a grim reminder to all of us that in the midst of life and health we are ever facing Eternity, and the admonition of William Cullen Bryant in his View of Death comes to us with most forceful meaning.
So live that when thy summons comes to join the innumerable caravan which moves to that mysterious real above, thou go not like the quarry slaves at night scoured to his dungeon, but sustained and soothed by an unfaltering trust, approach thy like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams.
