NEWTOWN— Mrs. Joan Howard, 40, a former Newtown resident, died of a heart attack at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at her home in Lafayette. A graduate of Richland Twp. High School, she and her husband Warren, whom she married in 1947, moved from Newtown to Lafayette in 1959. She was a member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church and the OES. She was born April 30, 1925, at Newtown to D. B. and Annis Martin Gray. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jeff and Steve, both at home; a daughter, Deborah at home; her mother at Newtown; a sister, Mrs. Gloria Howard of Quito, Ecuador, S.A., and a brother, Maj. Philip Gray in the U.S. Air Force at Colorado Springs, Colo. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Newtown Presbyterian Church. The body will lie in state there for one hour preceding services. Revs. Peter Heemstra and Bass will officiate. Burial will be in the Newtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette after 5 p.m. Monday. --typed by Walt W
