On last Wednesday afternoon George Howard assistant agent and telegraph operator at Linden on the LNA&C was killed by being run over by a freight train. The train had been doing switching, and Howard jumped on a box-car to ride to the depot. The grain chute at Montgomery's warehouse struck him and seemed to have stunned him. Then when the cattle pen was reached the chute knocked him to the ground and the cars passed over the back part of his head, killing him instantly. The young man was 28 years old and was the son of Wm. B. Howard. The funeral was held on Thursday aftenroon - kbz
