Hillsboro - Mrs. Bessie M. Howard, 69, a resident of Hillsboro 26 years, died Friday morning at the home of a daughter, Miss Betty Howard northwest of Crawfordsville. She had been ill with a heart ailment. Born March 31, 1885, near Newtown. Mrs. Howard was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Locke. She married Elton Howard Dec. 21, 1904. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are the husband; four sons, Cecil Howard of Phoenix, Ariz; Jack Howard of Veedersburg, and Russell and Kenneth Howard both of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Holman of this city and Miss Betty Howard; a brother, Dale Locke of Alliance, Neb; a sister, Mrs. Laura Bever of Bloomingdale, a half brother, JW Sutton of Gary and 9 grandchildren. The body was taken to the Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro. Friends may call at the family home Saturday evening. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. -- kbz
