Cleva Houk, the fourteen-year-old daughter of Wilber G. Houk, died suddenly last Thursday night of congestion of the stomach. She was in her usual health Thursday and was not taken sick until a few hours previous to her death. - thanks so much to Kim H

Cleva Houk, the 14-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. WG Houk died of congestion of the stomach at 5:30 o’clock Friday at her home on West Wabash Avenue after only a brief illness. Said one of Little Cleva’s neighbors to the Argus News: “If ever there was an angel on earth it was this child. I have known her for some time and she was as good a child as I ever knew.” Cleva has suffered with spinal trouble for a long time but was always cheerful and sweet dispositioned!! – kbz
