Mrs. R. J. Hostetter, wife of L. W. Hostetter, died at her home near Wellsville, Kansas on Saturday, July 11 of apoplexy. She had been engaged during the day in her usual household duties, and was in apparently good health until about five o’clock when she was taken with a fainting spell. She went to the well for a cup of water, when she became very sick and had to be assisted to the house by her husband. A physician was immediately sent for, but she died in about four minutes after his arrival, or about two hours after she was taken ill. Mrs. Hostetter was born in this county February 25, 1840, her maiden name being R. I. Pottenger. On October 17, 1860 she was married to L. W. Hostetter, and lived in the south part of this county until 1870 when they moved to a farm near Wellsville.
Mrs. Hostetter was the mother of four children, three of whom survive her. The bereaved husband and children have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in this county in their sad affliction
