WAYNETOWN, Ind. (CNS) -- Miss Mary Hormell, 79, of Wingate, died at 10:14 a. m. Saturday (June 3, 1961) at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since May 17. She had been ill since December. Born March 14, 1882, in Cole Creek Township, she was the daughter of Garner and Mary Elizabeth Thomas Hormell. She was a graduate of Union Christian College and the Indiana State Teachers College. She taught school in the area for many years and during the summers at the Winona Lake Church Camp. Miss Hormell had resided at her family home near Wingate all of her life and had served as a housemother for the Wesley Co-op Foundation at Purdue University for a number of years. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church and the Dorothy Q. Chapter DAR. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Edith Owens of Indianapolis, Miss Eulala Hormell and Mrs. Bertha Thompson, both of Wingate; a brother, Dr. Orren C. Hormell of Brunswick, Me., four nieces and a nephew. Services will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church. The Rev. Carl Nesbit will officiate, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The body is at the Servies Funeral Home and will be taken to the church one hour before services.
