Waynetown, Dec 16 – A broken rib sustained by John B. Hopping, 60, of 9 miles southeast of Waynetown when he fell from a farm wagon last Wednesday, complicated by pneumonia proved fatal today. Hopping died at his home in the Yountsville neighborhood at 3:30 a.m. Mr. Hopping was born on the farm where he died on Oct 26 1874 the son of Joseph M. and Mary J (Berkshire) Hopping. He was active in democratic circles and for six years was trustee of Ripley Twp. He was also a school teacher in Montgomery County for eleven years. He was a member of the Alamo Masonic Lodge, Alamo chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Royal Arch chapter of the Masonic Lodge at Crawfordsville. Surviving is one sister, Miss Betty Hopping with whom he made his home. Funeral services in charge of the Rev. Guy E. Tremaine will be held from the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in Wesley cemetery, six miles east of Waynetown. Following the regular service, an additional Masonic service will be held from the home. = kbz
