LINDEN— Wallace E. Hood, 48, manager of the Farm Bureau Co-Op Elevator here for the past 15 years, died at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His wife found him lying behind the elevator, a .22 rifle wound in his temple. It was believed he had shot himself between 3:10 and 3:20 p.m. Mr. Hood was born near Romney Aug. 1, 1910, a son of Hayde and Gordia Daniels Hood. He lived all his life in the Linden community. He was married Sept. 25, 1938, to Mabel Martin at Frankfort. He was a member of the Linden Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star. Mr. Hood was employed 10 years at the Crabb & Reynolds Elevator and when the business was sold to the Farm Bureau Co-Op he became manager. Surviving besides the wife are three daughters, Sondra, Wilma and Karen, all at home. The parents and two brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at the Methodist Church here with Rev. Glenn Clark officiating and the Masons conducting graveside rites. Friends may call at the Russell E. Brown Funeral Home here after 12 noon Thursday. The body will lie in state at the church for an hour prior to the services. Burial was in Linden Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Clark officiating and the Linden Masonic Lodge conducting graveside rites. Pallbearers were Robert McCormick, Junior Bennett, Herald Peacock, Clyde Vannice, Clarence Dykes and Andrew Johnson. Masonic graveside rites were conducted with Pat Andrews giving the ritual, Joseph Smith acting as chaplain and Marvin McBee the Bearer of the Three Great Lights. Flower bearers were Linda Guinn, Nancy Franklin, Judy Coopman, Roy Sue Kelley, Stella Burkle, Ann Jones, Janice Lee, Sally Franklin, Mary Ann Smith, Diana West, Ruth Ann Bennett, Sharon Bennett, Galin Smith, Mary Joyce Young, Judy Whitlow, Tammy Haviland, Linda Cooksey, Karen Lambeth, Laura Muttersbaugh, Dama King, Linda Martin, Brenda Walker, Rita Day, Beth Rice, Linda Binford, Susan Little and Nancy Winger.
