Mrs. Lucile HOFFHAUS, 49 years old died at 7 Monday morning at her residence RR 1, Hillsboro. She had been a teacher in Parke & Montgomery Counties for 28 years. Surviving are the husband, Edwin; one daughter, Helen Sue at home; the mother, Mrs. Lucy KERR of RR 2, Rosedale; 3 sisters, Miss Blanche Kerr of Rosedale; Mrs. Dorothy McHargue of Elkhart and Mrs. Virginia Hutchins of Roachdale and one brother, James Kerr of Rosedale. She was born in Bridgeton Jan 26, 1908, the daughter of James and Lucy Crooks Kerr. She married Edwin H. Hoffhus at Waynetown in 1943. She was a member of the church of Christ Scientist. Funeral services were held Wed. at 2 p.m. Branson Funeral Home, Rockville. Burial in Clear Run Cemetery, Bridgeton. Mrs. Hoffhaus received a Master's degree in English from ISTC. She taught English and Latin for 9 years in Waveland School. - typed by kbz

Mrs. Lucille F. Hoffhaus, 49, a teacher in Parke and Montgomery counties for 28 years, the wife of Edwin H. Hoffhaus Science and Mathematics teacher of the Hillsboro School, died at her home in the Prairie Chapel neighborhood near Hillsboro at 7 a.m. Monday after a three weeks illness.
She was born in Bridgeton, Jan. 26, 1908, the daughter of James and Lucy Crooks Kerr and was married to Mr. Hoffhaus in 1943.
She received d Master's degree in English in Indiana State Teachers College and was a member of the Church of Christ Scientist. .
Surviving are the husband and a daughter Helen Sue Hoffhaus, of Hillsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy McHartue, of Elkhart; Mrs. Virginia  Hutchins, of Roachdale and Blanche Kerr, of Rosedale; a brother James Kerr, of Rosedale.
Mrs. Hoffhaus had been a teacher of Latin and English in the Marshall and Bloomingdale school, until a few weeks before her death.
The body remained at the Machledt Funeral Home in Waveland until Tuesday evening and was then removed to the Branson Funeral Home in Rockville where services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, with burial in the Clear Run Cemetery in Bridgeton.  - jz
