Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Review, August 16, 1879 JERUSHA HUFF, wife of the late Nathaniel B. Huff, is no more; she departed this life on the 3d inst. The deceased was rather a remarkable woman; strong in intellect, devoted to her family and friends, and an humble follower of the meek and lowly one, whose praise was her chief delight. Her maiden name was Jerusha Larison; she was born in the State of New Jersey in the year 1800; she removed with her parents to the State of Ohio in 1807; was married to N.B. Huff on the 21st of May, 1818. In May, 1828, she and her husband joined the O.S. Baptist church in Hamilton county, Ohio, and both remained consistent and devoted members of that church during life; they removed to Montgomery county in 1832 and attached themselves to the Bethel church, near Waynetown, and received into the fellowship of that church by Elder John Lee, in 1834; thus remaining a member of that church for more than 45 years in this county. Her life was such as to honor her church, and endear her to all its members. She was the mother of nine children, five sons and four daughters, six of whom survive her. She has thirty-six grandchildren living and six dead; she also has twenty-six great grandchildren living and six dead. One brother and one sister survive her. Her funeral was preached by Eld. M.M. Vancleave and attended by a very large concourse of friends and neighbors, all of whom feel that one of the righteous has fallen asleep in Christ. It may well be said, "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord; henceforth their works do follow them." In her last illness, and while passing through the valley of the shadow of death, the Lord did comfort her, and enable her to rejoice in that love, mercy and grace that had solaced her so often in her journey, and now as she was leaving the shores of time on her passage to the bright and better land, she stated that she was going home, to dwell forever with the dear Savior, and with her friends that had preceded her, and admonished those she left behind to be prepared to meet her on the other shore, where sickness, and sorrow, and death are felt and feared no more.
