NEW RICHMOND, Ind. (CNS) -- Mrs. George Hockett, 60, of New Richmond, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday (April 6, 1975) at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. She had been a patient for four weeks and had been ill for about three years. Born July 11, 1914, in Shreveport, La., she was the daughter of Homer R. and Dora Smith Major. On Aug. 11, 1945, in Shreveport, she was married to W. F. Hockett, who is the postmaster at New Richmond. She had resided all her married life in New Richmond. Mrs. Hockett was a member of the Central Christian Church at Shreveport, National League Postmasters Auxiliary, Crawfordsville American Legion Auxiliary and Women's International Bowling Congress. Survivors include a brother, Homer R. Major Jr. of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. J. W. Twilliey of Mooringsport, La.; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Julia Rice of Waynetown; four nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home in Waynetown, with the Rev. Larry Call and the Rev. Thom True officiating. Burial will be in Shreveport. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family has requested any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Fund.
