Samuel J. HOLMES who at one time owned the Russell place south of town died at his home near Marshall on Saturday morning after a few days illness. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday. Burial at Montezuma cemetery. He is survived by a daughter, Esther at home and a son, Raymond who is a teacher in Kokomo. Mr. Holmes sold a farm near Montezuma to a gravel company and bought the Russell place. After a few years he sold this and bought a farm east of Marshal. He was well liked during his stay in this community. - typed by kbz
