Holliday - Samuel

Source:  Crawfordsville Journal, February 12, 1907

Samuel Holliday, for over two years past the baker at the soldiers' home, died on Sunday morning last a few minutes after 7 o'clock in the hospital, aged 39 years. Mr. Holliday had been ill for several months, but most of the time continued at work, it being during only the last two or three weeks that his illness caused much alarm. His wife was most constant, kind and devoted in her ministration to his wants. The remaining relatives to mourn his loss are: his father, M. E. Holliday, who resides at Crawfordsville; a brother, William, of Lafayette; four sisters, Mrs. Floy Booher of Darlington, Ind., Mrs. Hattie Simons of El Paso, Ill., and Allie Lathan of Prentiss, Ill. His mother died about two years ago. The subject of this notice was universally respected at the home and was a young man of sterling qualities. He served one year and five months in the third regiment and was at the siege and capture of Manila. The profound sympathy of the entire camp is extended to his devoted and bereaved wife and to all relatives. The funeral took place in Linden this afternoon, the services being held in the Christian Church at that place at 2 p.m.-Lafayette Courier. Mr. Holliday used to be a baker in this city. Will Purdue went to Linden this afternoon to attend the funeral. - typed by kbz
