Mrs. Ida M. HOLLAND 63 widow of Sanford Holland formerly of this city died at her home in Brazil Ind Friday according to messages received by relatives and friends here. Mrs. Holland left this city 15 years ago with her husband. His death occurred many years ago. Of late she had been living with her son, Frank Holland at Brazil. Mr. and Mrs. Holland lived in Crawfordsville for about 15 years and were prominent in the social life of the city while here. Concerning the death of Mrs. Holland the Brazil Times says: "Death last night took another of our beloved women when Mrs. ida M. Holland passed away quietly at her home, 104 E. Kruzan Street. She was the victim of a complication of diseases brought on by two strokes of paralysis an attacKnights of Pythiasneumonia and other illness during the past 3 years. The deceased woman was one of the most highly respected women in Brazil. Her most admirable characteric was her love for her son, Frank. The affection which existed between the mother and son has been frequently commented on by neighbors and friends.

The greatest life achievement of the deceased woman was in the world of music. Endowed with a natural, sweet and strong soprano voice, she studied in the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and attained no small promience as a vocalist of rare ability. She was vocalist in the famous Thoeodre Thomas orchestra at Cincinnati, Ohio and also did operatic singing in that city. She was also a professional vocalist serving in the churches at Middletown, Ohio and Crawfordsville. Several years ago she frequently sang in the various church of Brazil. While in Crawfordsville she was a member of the choir supported by General Lew Wallace. The deceased woman was born and reared in Middletown, Ohio. She was 63 years, 5 months 1 day of age. She was married in Middletown to Sanford Holland who preceded her in death by many years. She later lived in Crawfordsville and for many years has lived in Brazil.

She was united with the Baptist Church at Middletown Ohio when a young girl and continued to hold her membership ther euntil death. The deceased lived a good Christian life, was a kind neighbor, a lover of children an attentive and loving mother and a talented woman all of which contributed with other good qualities to make her life a success. Undoubtedly one of the most dramatic incidents of her life occurred when she remained outside the Iriquois Theater at Chicago while the disastrous fire was raging when more than 500 lives were lost waiting for the appearance of her son Frank who was a member of the theatre company playing in the theatre at the time of the fire. By a turn of fate the mother and son found each other in a drug store near the scene. The deceased woman is survived by the son Frank of Brazil and several realtives. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 Sunday afternoon.
