GREENCASTLE — Morris W. Hirshburg, 67, former Crawfordsville photographer, who since 1948 had operated a studio in Greencastle, adjacent to the DePauw University campus, died Saturday afternoon at the Putnam County Hospital after having taken suddenly ill earlier in the day.
A native of Indiana, Mr. Hirshburg was born in Scott County where he spent his boyhood. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Crawfordsville Elks Lodge and Greencastle Rotary Club. He also was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion Post for many years.
Mr. Hirshburg, who had a wide acquaintance among Indiana photographers, operated studios in Crawfordsville for 30 years. His last studio there was in the 200 block of east Main Street. Previously he operated studios in the 100 block of East Main Street and the 100 block of North Washington Street.
Survivors include a son, John Hirshburg, in service with the U. S. Marines; a brother, Roy Hirshburg of Richmond, and a sister, Mrs. Marguerite Seinberg of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Rector Funeral Home in Greencastle. Burial probably will be at Greencastle.
