He practiced medicine four years in Eureka Springs, Ark; one year in Hot Springs, Ark and about three years in northwest Ark and Indian Territory, finally land in Oklahoma and filed on a claim, three and a half miles east of Sayre. After moving to Oklahoma he gave up practicing medicine and devoted all his time to farming. He lived on this farm until about two years ago when he traded it for one in Benton Co Ark where he died last Friday morning, May 26th, Dr. Himes was a hard working man, full of energy; was a good conversationalist, sociable and was loved by all who knew him. He was 64 years, 1 month and 26 days old and leaves a wife and six children to mourn their loss. He and his wife have been members of the Dunkard Church for nearly 30 years and it was his wish that the brethren of that church should officiate at his funeral so he was brought to Sayre on Monday and that afternoon services were held at the home of his son, CL Himes, Rev. Wells of near Berlin preaching the funeral sermon. He was laid to rest in the Doxey-Sayre cemetery. The many friends extend their deepest sympathy to the family.
