Hill - dau of George
Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Monday, 20 June 1892
Diphtheria is still raging in a very malignant form and many of the people who have children are leaving the town. Another one of Geo. Hill’s children died yesterday. It was his last girl, a child of three years. The health board is doing everything in its power to prevent the spread of the disease. Yesterday there was no Sunday school or preaching at any of the four churches, at the request of the board. No person is allowed to attend the funeral of those dying but the undertakers and the sexton of the cemetery. Almost every dwelling house and store room here smells of burning sulphur, carbolic acid, assafoetida, or some other supposed disinfectant.
