George C. Hightower, 70, of 3004A Lawndale Drive died at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday in Culver Union Hospital. A retired machinist with L&N Railroad, he served in the Navy during World War II. He was an avid bowler and horseshoe pitcher and was educated in Crawfordsville schools. Mr. Hightower was born Feb.18, 1918, at Crawfordsville to Frank and Nellie McMullen Hightower. He married Virginia Hoffa on Nov. 3, 1948, at Crawfordsville. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Linda of Crawfordsville; a stepson, Charles Bradbury of Kingman, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The body was cremated. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund. Hunt and Son Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
