Higgins - A.N.,

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Thursday, 4 May 1893

A telegram was received at Waynetown this morning announcing the death of Hon. A. N. Higgins, which occurred last night near Yuma, Colorado, whither he had gone some months ago in search of health. The remains will be brought to his father’s home in Lebanon for interment.

Mr. Higgins was one of the best known citizens of the county and was for quite a while principal of the Waynetown schools. In 1890 he was elected as a member of the lower house of the State Legislature from this county, making the race on the Democratic ticket. The hard campaign broke his health and resulted in his contracting consumption form which disease he died. Mr. Higgins was a good citizen and an honest man and his death is deplored by all who knew him. He was comforted in his last days by his devoted wife who has been with him since January. - s
