James K. Higginbothem, a man about 68 years old, living one mile west of West Lebanon, Warren County, committed suicide on the 4th by hanging himself. The Williamsport Republican says he had been sick with the measles for some six weeks, but had recovered, when he caught cold and a relapse followed. This second attack resulted in a derangement of the kidneys and bladder and affected his mind. At times for the past six weeks he has been apparently perfectly sane, at which time he would instruct how his business should be attended to and requesting that Harmon M. Billings, an attorney at this place, should settle his affairs in case of his death. The desire to kill himself seemed ever upon his mind and he appeared to have settled the manner and place in his own mind. A little son, the youngest, aged about 8 years, was made his watch and three or four times ropes had been taken from the deceased, which he had procured for the purpose of ending his miserable existence. -s
